Minnovation have been involved from the very early days of development on the water powered air extraction shearer drum. The name RAC comes from its other name of "Rotary Air Curtain" as it was termed in some quarters.
Minnovation were responsible for the development of the RAC Sapphire orifice spray when problems were encountered due to heavy nozzle wear during extended operation underground.
Minnovation are the only UK Coal approved supplier of the RAC spray.
When MRDE Bretby closed Minnovation aquired the full range testing equipment and were authorized by the then British Coal to conduct and approve shearer drums for underground use.
